Friends of Loretto

The Friends of Loretto support the School in a variety of ways aimed at creating a positive and friendly school community on a completely voluntary basis.

Building a friendly community

We provide social occasions for parents, family members, staff and anyone with an interest in the school. If you are a parent of a Loretto pupil, you are automatically a member of the Friends of Loretto. The committee aims to represent every House and Year Group in the school.

We assist in welcoming new families, set up a buddy system for new parents and help you get the most out of being part of Loretto. We plan to host regular coffees and lunches off site and set up other social activities, from walks to beach cleans to tough mudders. Let's get creative with ideas: please get in touch at

Organising events

The Friends of Loretto organise events each term to have fun, make lifelong friendships and promote a positive community. We are always seeking volunteers to help at events. Please let us know if you would like to volunteer or have an idea for an event: contact

Any funds raised during our events will be used to purchase equipment or to support initiatives across the School for the benefit of the pupils and charities chosen by the pupils. The uniform shop is a great example of amazing volunteers providing a service to families. They are supporting projects such as creative writing workshops, Loretto Engineers' electric car build, Theatre costumes and lights. Ideas for the wish list are welcomed.

We aim to make our events as inclusive as possible across the whole of Loretto School with low ticket prices. Where possible we will choose days when parents don’t need to make an extra journey to the School. We will communicate about our events through The Week, the School's E-news, parent What’s App groups as well as posters across the School. We realise that not everyone will be able to join our events, with parents coming from 27 countries but the more the merrier!

Supporting pupils and the School

We would like to channel the energy, skills and enthusiasm of the parent body to benefit the School. Please let us know if you can help: you could share a talent you have, offer work experience in your business, help with interview practice, join a parents choir or Pipes & Drums ensemble at events... these are just a few examples and we're looking forward to hearing about any other suggestions: please contact

The Friends of Loretto offer help with different committees, including careers, uniform and food. We will make ourselves available for focus groups to discuss changes to School policies at the request of the Headmaster, for example regarding the use of mobile phones, anti-bullying initiatives, and security.

We are acting as ambassadors for Loretto in many ways, and the School is keen that we support them at their events. We’ll be inviting parents to take part, for example by hosting families for golf tournaments such as The Simmers Cup and US kids golf.

We are looking forward to meeting you at social events, Open days and other School events

For problems or queries about your child and their academic work their tutor is always the first point of call.

Your questions are really important to Loretto so if you have any questions regarding your child and relating to the School, you are encouraged to contact your child's tutor, Heads of Departments, Deputy Heads or Housemasters/mistresses. This will help improve the communications between you and the School and allow The Friends of Loretto to focus on its social & welcoming role.
