At Loretto we see the evidence all around us that fostering young people in mind, body and spirit - an educational ethos established and unchanged since its inception 200 years ago - remains the best foundation for life today. We are a small school but with our size comes strength, as whether they be three or eighteen years old, each student donning our unique red blazer is known and nurtured - we make it our mission to know what makes them tick! This is reflected in the success of our school leavers, with a 99% A-Level pass rate in 2024.
Our historic 85 acre leafy campus on the outskirts of Edinburgh is an ideal educational setting for all those growing up within the Loretto family. On top of excellent on-site academic, performing arts, sport, golf and outdoor pursuits facilities, we are fortunate to be surrounded by the beautiful East Lothian coastline and 32 golf courses whilst remaining close enough to take full advantage of the rich culture and attractions on offer in Scotland’s capital.
Schools are, of course, far more than bricks and mortar. The best means of gauging whether a school is right for your child is by arranging a visit, when you can meet our staff and especially our students. We invite you to visit and spend time with us; we look forward to showing you how Scotland’s oldest boarding school has been creating exceptional lives since 1827.
